Professional Career Highlights
Tuto is a Special Advisor to Alvarado Tax & Business Advisors LLC. Prior to that, he was a Member at Alvarado Tax & Business Advisors LLC and a Partner at Zaragoza & Alvarado LLP.
His Curriculum Vitae also includes being Tax Partner in charge of the tax practice in several local and international firms in Puerto Rico.
Tuto also served as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Internal Revenue and Collections at the Puerto Rico Treasury Department, supervising six bureaus (Income Tax Bureau, Property Tax Bureau, Excise Tax Bureau, Collections Bureau Alcohol Excise Tax Bureau, and Tax Exemption Bureau).
Areas of Expertise
Through his career, Tuto has developed a diversified tax experience concentrating in merger and acquisitions, reorganizations of business enterprises and estate and gift tax. He also provides tax and consulting services to the insurance, manufacturing, distribution, retail and construction industries.
Tuto has been speaker at many tax seminars sponsored by the Puerto Rico Society of Certified Public Accountants and other professional associations, public agencies and private organizations.
Professional Affiliations and Accolades
Tuto is a member of the Puerto Rico Certified Public Accountants Society and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
He is a Past President of the Puerto Rico Certified Public Accountants Society (1999-2000) and had lead several of its comittees throughout the years.
Also, Tuto was First Vice President of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Merchants and an appointed Director of the Chamber of Commerce of Puerto Rico.
Through the years Tuto has been called to participate as member of several technical groups created by the Puerto Rico Treasury Department to evaluate and draft proposals on tax related projects and reforms.
